A global initiative for responsible digital impact
Back in 2009, the internet’s total energy use and associated emissions had already surpassed those of the aviation industry. This insight sparked our mission: to help organisations recognise the climate impact of their online presence and contribute to certified climate projects around the world.
Since then, we have grown into an international initiative with members across sectors and continents — all united by a shared commitment to supporting projects that have real social and environmental impact.

An initiative focused on action, awareness, and responsible online practices
Websites Supporting Climate Projects is a global initiative built on a simple idea: the internet has a climate footprint — and organisations can choose to take responsibility for it.
By supporting certified climate projects, our members help drive meaningful change, from renewable energy development to social impact projects in regions where it is needed most. These projects are certified through internationally recognised standards, ensuring transparency and real impact.
We extend our sincere thanks to the many members who help this initiative grow.
It is encouraging to hear how the green icon and certificate strengthen brand trust, support communication efforts, and help organisations demonstrate responsibility to their users.
For many companies, supporting climate projects is not the sole pillar of their sustainability work — but it is a valuable addition to broader environmental efforts. We frequently receive feedback that the certification delivers significant communication and brand value.
Our goal has always been twofold:
to create awareness about the climate footprint of the internet, and to support concrete projects that make a measurable difference.
Through our work with certified partners and local organisations, we help advance projects that reduce emissions, promote renewable energy, and improve living conditions for communities around the world — such as clean-cooking initiatives in Africa that replace polluting stoves with safer, more efficient alternatives.
Every contribution helps move us toward a more responsible digital future.
We usually respond to emails within 24 hours on workdays. Please, write us if you have any questions.
