Membership Terms and Conditions

Thank you for participating in the Websites Supporting Climate Projects initiative.

These membership terms and conditions supplement the confirmation email you received upon joining the initiative.

1. Website traffic information

To ensure an accurate calculation of your website’s climate footprint, it is important that we receive up-to-date traffic data on an ongoing basis.

You are required to inform us if your website’s monthly page views exceed the agreed interval (calculated as a monthly average and reviewed quarterly).

As we do not independently audit traffic data, you are responsible for ensuring that the information provided is accurate. This is necessary to ensure that the appropriate level of CO₂ reduction is supported and that the initiative delivers real climate impact.

2. Use of icon and certificate

Once the membership fee has been paid, you are entitled to use the initiative’s icon and your individual certificate on your website.

The icon and certificate may only be used to communicate that your website supports certified climate projects.

They must not be used to make broader claims about your company’s overall climate neutrality or environmental performance.

We recommend the following wording:

“Our website participates in the Websites Supporting Climate Projects initiative.”

The visual design of the icon is defined by the initiative and may be updated from time to time. You may choose the size, placement, and colour variation from the official files we provide.

3. Renewal and termination

Membership is automatically renewed at the end of each period to ensure continuous support for climate projects.

Each renewal period is one (1) year.

If you wish to terminate your membership, written notice must be provided no later than one (1) month before the end of the current period.

If termination occurs later than this deadline, the membership fee for the upcoming period cannot be refunded, as climate project contributions are planned and financed on an annual basis.

Upon termination of membership, all icons, certificates, and references to the initiative must be removed immediately from your website and other materials to avoid misleading users.

4. Membership fee and price adjustments

The membership fee will not increase during the first year of participation.

If the costs of climate projects increase and the fee for the next period rises by more than 15%, you will be informed in advance so that you can decide whether to continue your participation.

In the event of a price increase exceeding 15%, you may terminate the membership with immediate effect and without notice.

This shortened notice period does not apply if the price increase is due to a significant increase in website traffic.

5. Rights

All rights to the concept, icons, certificates, wording, and related materials belong to the Websites Supporting Climate Projects initiative.

This includes, but is not limited to, copyrights, design rights, and other intellectual property rights.

6. Communication about your participation

The initiative may communicate your participation to third parties, including on our website, in project documentation, and in marketing materials.

We may also display your logo as a participant unless you explicitly request otherwise in writing.

7. Limitation of liability

The initiative shall not be liable for any direct or indirect losses, including loss of profit, operational losses, or consequential damages arising from participation in the initiative.

The initiative reserves the right to determine how CO₂ reductions are implemented, provided they take place within the framework of certified climate projects.

By paying the membership fee or using the icon and/or certificate, you accept these membership terms and conditions.
